Level 4, Unit 1 Curriculum
Classroom Materials Needed:
Each student needs the following:
•(1) separating zipper - metal or plastic
- For sizes 5 to 8: at least 16” long
- For sizes 9 to 12: at least 18” long
- For sizes 14 to 16: at least 20” long
- For sizes M8 to M10: at least 22” long
• A selection of appropriate apparel fabrics. The jacket bodice and sleeves can be made with a medium weight woven fabric such as chambray, flannel, or linen blends, OR a structured knit such as a ponte or double knit
• Rib knit fabric for the collar, cuffs and waistband.
Classroom Tools Needed:
• Acrylic ruler, cutting mat, and rotary cutter (for instructor only)
• Iron
• Frixion pen or tailor’s chalk
• Zipper foot
• Hand sewing needle
• Needle-nose plyers (if using a metal zipper)
